REDUCING INEFFICIENCIES AND CONDUCTION
An estimated 80% of a metal building’s heat loss due to conduction happens in and around the doors (21%), walls (33%) and roof (26%). Conduction not only makes your building inefficient, it can cause moisture accumulation on the building’s framing and connections. This build up of moisture can cause rust, which is one of the most prominent threats to a steel building and why we always recommend adding an insulation package to your base building system. Below is the menu of insulation options offered by Capital Steel.
Select from vapor barrier only, R-11 (3” thick), R-13 (4” thick) and R-19 (6” thick) in the walls. You can also install up to R-30 in the roof with available 10” insulation. The insulation is designed to sandwich between the sheeting and secondary framing components creating a weather tight seal.
Can be ordered to accompany 3070, 4070 and 6070 walk doors. While not as essential to the building’s longevity as the wall and roof insulation, weather stripping is highly recommended to ensure a weather tight connection between your doors and the framing.
Can be installed on the walls inside or around the exterior of your building. Both the stacked stone and brick panels deliver an average R-Value of 3.4 per inch. GenStone can complement the building’s existing siding or completely replace it as long as there is a flat surface to fasten the panels to.
Offer a minimum insulation rating of R-16 up to R-49. These panels can mimic the look of the standard sheeting or be pre-treated with stucco.
Entrances to the building can allow significant amounts of warm or cold air to both penetrate or escape the building. All walk doors, sectional doors and roll up doors can be purchased as insulated to prevent conduction through the entrances.
Passing electrical wires, pipes, electrical service entrances through the walls and roof of your building can create a void where hot or cold air can either leave or enter the interior of your building. These airtight accessories provide a solution by delivering a weathertight space for essential services to connect to the interior of the building.
